At that times in Drohobych Jews were slaves for them – as cheap as dirt, they were dogs, who deserved only this kind of life, dog’s life. Even worth than dog’s life: Jews were to die – it was decided in advance. Only time and way of death remained unknown. Perhaps, they would be shot in the forest near Bronica – before the death sentence was fulfilled they were given spades and they dug graves for themselves. Perhaps, they would starve in ghetto or die in gas chamber in Belz concentration camp: their way to it was called with brutal irony “resettlement”.
Oberscharfführer Karl Günter had his personal dentist – the Jew whose name was Löwe. Great aesthet Hauptscharfführer Felix Landau had his own court artist – teacher of woodworking and painting Bruno Schulz. In Gestappo headquarter Landau and Günter tables were on the same floor, they stood on the cross. Those two were competitors. And they hated one another.
